Our History

The history of Bidfood in the Czech Republic began in September 1990, when the first sales office was opened in a temporary construction container in Prague 5.

From Humble Beginnings to Success

A year and a half later, the company moved its headquarters to the Malá Strana Water Tower. In 1993, the construction of the first own cold store in Kralupy nad Vltavou began. Since then, the company has grown dynamically and is today the largest food distributor in the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

In addition to food purchasing and sales, Bidfood also focuses on its own production. Among the most popular products are Prima ice cream, high-quality Gurmet meat, and a wide range of frozen foods under the Nowaco brand.

1990

Opening of Nowaco sales office in Czechoslovakia

1992

Establishment of Nowaco Czechoslovakia s.r.o.

1993

Construction of a first cold storage facility and company headquarters in Kralupy nad Vltavou.

1996

Establishment of Nowaco Slovakia s.r.o. and opening of the first Slovak distribution depot in Nové Mesto nad Váhom

1997

Acquisition of Slezské mrazírny Opava, one of the largest frozen food and ice cream producers in the Czech Republic, and launch of in-house production

1998

Launch of fish packing facility in Kralupy nad Vltavou

1998

New administrative building and first freezing chamber built in Nové Mesto nad Váhom

2003

Opening of Gurmet pork and beef processing plant in Kralupy nad Vltavou

2004

Launch of Nowaco fresh and frozen seafood processing facility in Kralupy nad Vltavou

2006

Acquisition of BHJ garant, the second largest gastronomy distributor in the Czech Republic, and opening of the third distribution depot in Velké Meziříčí
