Bidfood Opava builds on the long-standing tradition of Opava’s frozen food industry, which dates back to the 1950s. Today, it is the largest ice cream producer in the Czech and Slovak Republics, and a major manufacturer of frozen ready meals and sous-vide meat products.
Extensive Production Portfolio
Some of our products are still made using traditional recipes – enhanced by the most modern technology. Thanks to ongoing development and innovation, we offer reliable, high-quality products with an emphasis on food safety and environmental responsibility. Our production sites in Opava meet all legal requirements as well as strict voluntary quality standards.
Prima and La Panna Ice Creams
Our ice creams are made from premium ingredients – curd, cream, yoghurt and fruit – without vegetable fats, added water, artificial flavours or colours. Ice cream production in Opava dates back to the 1970s, and since 1999 it has been represented under the Prima brand, which is well-known among Czech consumers. La Panna draws on Italian gelato traditions and is made according to authentic recipes with a focus on creamy taste and high fruit content.
Nowaco Frozen Ready Meals
Popular Czech dishes such as fried cheese, meat-filled dumplings and fruit dumplings are prepared using traditional methods. Thanks to deep freezing immediately after production, the meals retain their best qualities over time.
The production of frozen ready meals began in Opava’s cold stores in the mid-1960s. To this day, we still produce Nowaco potato croquettes using the original 1976 recipe.
Banquet Sous-Vide Meat Products
We were the first company in the Czech Republic to develop sous-vide products, starting in 2012. Today, we are the largest producer of this product line in the Czech and Slovak Republics, and we successfully export abroad. Thanks to modern technology, our focus on quality and continuous innovation, we are a leader in this rapidly growing market segment.
Nowaco Frozen Fruit and Vegetables
We started producing single vegetables, vegetable mixes and frozen fruit in early 2001. Following later modernisation, our Opava packing plant is now one of the best-equipped in Europe. We offer a wide range of high-quality frozen vegetables and fruits for both retail and foodservice, with a focus on gentle processing and preserving natural flavour.
Puff Pastry and Bagetier Pastries
We have been producing frozen puff pastry and pastries since 2010. Thanks to premium ingredients and unique technology, the dough can achieve up to 90 layers. A traditional manual process of kneading, rolling, fat layering and folding has been replaced by a 50-metre-long, highly advanced production line.
